ABOUT J MOULD
J Mould has worked from Reading Quarry since 1969, and the same family still runs it. Today that means our own demolition teams, our own recycling facility, our own fleet and more than 150 people, working for housebuilders, civil engineers and contractors across Berkshire, and on demolition projects nationwide.
Fifty-seven years, one family, three generations, and the same site since day one.
The people behind the work, named and accountable from planning to completion.
Twelve current credentials covering demolition, waste, fleet and asbestos work, every one checkable.
OUR STORY
J Mould began at Reading Quarry in 1969 and has worked from the same site ever since. What has changed is what sits on it: a licensed materials recycling facility, a washplant, a weighbridge and a fleet that covers collection, haulage and delivery. Waste that arrives here is processed here, and leaves again as recycled aggregate.

Our Fleet

Why US
We own and operate a licensed materials recycling facility at Reading Quarry, so your waste does not change hands. It leaves your site on our lorry, is processed at our facility, and stays with us the whole way. That is why your waste transfer documentation arrives with the load rather than a fortnight later, and why there is one company to call if anything needs checking.
The business has been family owned and managed since 1969, and the Mould family still run it from Reading Quarry. That knowledge has been handed down rather than hired in, so the person deciding on a demolition programme, a skip order or a tipping account is in Berkshire rather than in a regional office, and a date given is a date the business can hold to.
We are licensed for hazardous waste and asbestos removal, hold twelve current industry accreditations including DVSA Earned Recognition, and our demolition operatives train through the National Demolition Training Group. We take on large and complex projects other contractors turn down: from former RAF buildings demolished under a Section 80 agreement, local authority buildings, and part of an occupied office block removed without disrupting the business working inside it. The work spans housebuilding and civil engineering, local authority and former defence sites, and commercial and domestic contracts.

FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1969
Our Purpose
Our Mission & Vision
J Mould exists to take on the heavy, complicated jobs, and to keep as much as possible out of landfill along the way.
To be the first call for demolition nationwide, and for the waste and aggregate work that keeps Berkshire building, backed by our own site, our own fleet and our own people.
A site where material gets used twice. Waste comes in, gets recycled at Reading Quarry, and goes back out as aggregate for the next job, so less of what the industry builds with has to come out of the ground.
OUR OWN RECYCLING FACILITY
What leaves your site is weighed in at Reading Quarry and sorted. Recovered wood and metal go on for reprocessing, and suitable waste goes through our own washplant and comes back out as recycled aggregate, graded and ready to go straight back onto a job.

Our team

Proprietor
Leading the business his family has run from Reading Quarry since 1969, and still hands-on with every major decision.

General Manager
Overseeing day-to-day operations across the yard, the fleet and the recycling facility, day in, day out.
More than 150 people work across the yard, the fleet, the recycling facility and the demolition teams.
What We Put Back Into Our Berkshire Community
Every skip we deliver puts £2 towards the West Berkshire Foodbank, a small contribution on every order that adds up across a year of deliveries.
We distribute free wildflower seeds through the Village Eye every year, so the land around the sites we work on gets something back.
WHAT YOU CAN HOLD US TO
The same standard of service applies to a single skip on a driveway and a multi-phase demolition. Same site, same fleet, same people on both.
Your waste does not change hands. It leaves your site on our lorry, is processed at our facility, and the transfer documentation arrives with the load.
We invested £3m in our own recycling facility so demolition material comes back out as recycled aggregate instead of going to landfill. We are committed to eco-friendly developments.
ISO 14001 certified, Environment Agency registered, and licensed for hazardous waste and asbestos. Audited standards, not self-declared.
Our demolition operatives train through the National Demolition Training Group, and we hold CHAS accreditation and the CSCS Platinum award for site safety and competence.
More than 150 people across the yard, the fleet, the recycling facility and the demolition teams. One site, one number, one company accountable.
LICENSED. AUDITED. TRUSTED.
We are registered with the Environment Agency as a waste carrier and hold twelve current industry accreditations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FORS and DVSA Earned Recognition. Every one is checkable before you book.
DVSA EARNED RECOGNITION
DVSA audits our systems and records directly rather than stopping our lorries at the roadside. That is what Earned Recognition status means, and it is why our vehicles spend their time working.

Featured credential
CSCS PLATINUM AWARD
Platinum is the top tier awarded on site safety and competence across the business, not on a single project.

I highly recommend J Mould. I booked a 6 yard skip online. They arrived on time and kept communicating till they arrived. We used it more than it could hold. They were so generous and didn’t make any fuss and took the skip. I emailed to request for collection. They came in 24 hours and again flawless communication.Very lovely chap who collected/ delivered the skip. Very careful and no damages done any where.

From a skip on the drive or a domestic demolition, to a commercial demolition with the plant hire, haulage and waste that goes with it. One company, one number, an answer within the working day.
