SKIP PERMITS

Will Your Skip Be on the Road?

If your skip is going on a public road rather than on private land, the council requires a permit. We arrange it for you. Tell us where the skip is going and we will handle the application.

No Road Permit Required

If the skip sits entirely on your driveway, yard or garden, with no part of it on the pavement or road, you can book online and pick any available delivery date.

Permit Required

If the skip is going on a public road, the council requires a permit and we arrange it with them for you. Allow three working days for it to come through, so order three days before you need the skip on site.

Permit fee: Charged at the council's rate

HAVE QUESTIONS?

Frequently Asked Questions

An 8 yard skip holds around 80 standard bin bags, depending on what you are putting in it. It measures 3.20m long by 1.72m wide by 1.22m high. It is our largest standard size, built for volume rather than weight, so it suits full property clearances and garden work rather than heavy materials.

No. Stone, soil, brick, blocks, hardcore and concrete are too heavy for an 8 yard skip. For heavy waste you need a smaller skip loaded with that material only. Call us and we will put you in the right size.

Fridges and freezers, liquids and oils, electrical equipment including televisions and computer monitors, fluorescent tubes, hazardous waste, medical waste, tyres, paint tins, batteries and gas bottles cannot go in any skip. We can often dispose of these separately, so call us before you book.

Plasterboard can go in a skip, but it needs one of its own, which you can select when you book.

Stone, soil, brick, blocks, hardcore and concrete are too heavy for this size.

Standard hire is four weeks. If you need it for longer, choose a later collection date when you book and extra weeks are added at £30 plus VAT each.

We deliver within six working days of your order, often sooner. Choose your delivery date when you book and we will be there for it.

If the skip is going on a public road or verge, the council requires a permit and we arrange it for you. Allow three working days. If it is going on private land such as a driveway, no permit is needed and you can book online.
