WASHED AGGREGATES

Washed Aggregates From Our Own Plant at Reading Quarry

Eight washed grades produced at Reading Quarry, from 0/4mm sharp sand to 80mm shingle, plus Formpave-certified gradings for permeable paving. Delivered on our own fleet or loaded for collection.

Our Washing Process

Why Washed Aggregates Cost More and Perform Better

Washing removes the fine contaminants that dry processing leaves behind. That is what you are paying for, and it is why washed grades hold their spec on jobs where dry aggregate would be rejected.

We invested £3m in our recycling facility at Reading Quarry and the washplant processes 200 tonnes an hour. The result is a consistent product from 0/4mm sharp sand through to 80mm shingle, graded for the applications where dry aggregate will not meet spec, particularly drainage and permeable paving.

Choosing the Right Grade

Match the Material to the Job

Pipe Bedding & Hard Landscaping

Recommended: Shingle 10mm or 20mm

Fine to mid-grade shingle. The 10mm for pipe bedding and fine drainage, the 20mm where you need a bit more coarseness in concrete or hard landscaping.

Land Drainage & Soakaways

Recommended: Shingle 40mm

Our coarser shingle grade, ideal for land drainage schemes and soakaways, not suitable for driveways.

Decorative & Landscape Projects

Recommended: Shingle 80mm

Our coarsest grade, suited to decorative borders and landscape projects rather than drainage.

Concreting & Floor Screeds

Recommended: Sharp Sand 0/4mm or Ballast 0/20mm

Washed sand and ballast for block paving, concreting, floor screeds and general building work.

Permeable Paving

Recommended: Formpave Grading 4/20mm or 10/63mm

Certified grading built specifically for Formpave Aquaflow permeable paving systems.

Decorative & Landscape Projects

Recommended: Shingle 80mm

Our coarsest grade, suited to decorative borders and landscape projects rather than drainage.

Bulk Supply

Ordering by the Load, From One to Ongoing

Whether it is one load or a standing supply across a project, washed aggregate goes out on our own tippers from Reading Quarry, or is loaded for you to collect. Order by the tonne, with no account to open and no minimum load.

Why Recycled Works

The Same Performance, at a Lower Cost

Lower Cost Per Tonne

Recycled washed aggregate costs less than primary aggregate of the same grade, because the material comes off our own demolition sites rather than out of the ground.

Consistent Quality

Washed, screened and graded on the same plant every time, so the 20mm you order in March is the 20mm you get in September.

Reduces Landfill

Every load recycled here is one less load sent to landfill, reducing environmental impact.

Same-Day Availability

All eight grades held in stock at Reading Quarry, ready to load.

Graded to Spec, Not Just Washed Clean

Washing removes the contaminants. Grading is what makes the material usable. Every grade is screened to a consistent size band, from the Formpave-certified gradings for permeable paving through to the shingle used on drainage schemes that get signed off by an engineer.

The same family have run this site from the start, investing in plant, people and the local community along the way.

Licensed and Accredited

Twelve industry accreditations, including DVSA Earned Recognition, one of very few operators our size to hold it, plus CSCS Platinum, NFDC and FORS.

Our Own Fleet

Tippers, bulkers, walking floor, HIAB and low loader, all owned outright, so we set the delivery date and we keep it.

Collection From 6:30am

The yard is open from 6:30am Monday to Friday, so a load can be on your site before work starts.
