About This Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter to join our dynamic team in Reading. You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair and servicing of our plant machinery and equipment.
Keeping our fleet of excavators, loaders, crushers and screeners in top condition is essential to everything we do, from demolition sites to our own Materials Recycling Facility. You’ll help ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime across the whole operation.

As Plant Fitter, you’ll be working across a genuinely established, family-owned and managed rather than a small independent workshop. You’ll be trusted to keep the machinery that powers real demolition, waste and recycling work across Berkshire running safely and reliably, day after day.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of plant machinery and equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on plant equipment
- Carry out inspections to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work
- Follow health and safety regulations and company policies at all times
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or in a similar role in construction, demolition or waste recycling
- Strong knowledge of plant machinery, including excavators, loaders, crushers and screeners
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field are preferred
Skills & Approach
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday; 7am to 5pm
