PROJECT CASE STUDY
We carried out the retail demolition of the former B&Q steel-framed building, including its associated offices and external infrastructure, in a busy commercial area of Sutton.

The site comprised a large warehouse-style building with associated offices, external hardstanding and service infrastructure. Its location within a busy commercial area required careful planning to minimise disruption to neighbouring businesses, pedestrians and road users.
The building was soft stripped first. The steel frame and external cladding were then dismantled mechanically, using a combination of high-reach and conventional demolition excavators.
Demolition materials were segregated on site so that steel, concrete, timber and general waste could be recycled wherever possible. Dust suppression and continuous monitoring were in place throughout the works.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Through careful planning and site management, the former B&Q building was demolished and the site cleared for the next phase of redevelopment, with a focus on health, safety and sustainability.

Survey & Planning
We survey the structure, check for asbestos and set the demolition sequence against what the survey finds.

Licensing & Approvals
Section 80 notice, asbestos survey and licensed removal, and the environmental permits the site needs, all in place before work starts.

Site Setup
Hoarding, exclusion zones and services isolated, with every operative briefed on the method statement before they go on

Demolition
The structure comes down to the sequence agreed at survey, by high-reach, machine or hand as the site allows.

Recycling & Clearance
Arisings are crushed and reused on site where the scheme allows, and everything else goes back to our own Materials Recycling Facility.
