Oakley was once five separate communities, Church Oakley, East Oakley, Newfound, Deane and Malshanger, linked by scattered farms and cottages. Ribbon development arrived in the 1930s along Hill Road, Oakley Lane and Pardown, and from the 1960s to the 1980s a series of housing estates filled in most of the land between the main roads, until Church Oakley, East Oakley and Newfound merged into one village. Along the way the centre moved from St Leonard's Church to the East Oakley pond, and the station closed in 1963.
Much of Oakley was built in those post-war decades, and those estate homes are now the ones being extended, refitted and cleared. We deliver skips across Oakley, RG23, and recycle what we collect at our own facility in Reading.
